Cataract Campaign

Kimse Yok Mu has initiated a project aiming to provide relief to thousands of cataract sufferers in Darfur, who have lived in darkness for years due to poverty and a shortage of doctors.

Hot weather, malnutrition and climate conditions in Africa cause many people to lose their sight to cataracts at a young age. It is estimated that 10 million Africans experience vision problems stemming from cataracts. An insufficient number of doctors as well as a lack of financial resources translates to thousands with cataracts living in darkness despite the availability of a cure. The project, titled "Is Anybody There to Bring Light to Dark Eyes?" lend a helping hand to cataract patients in Darfur. "I previously traveled to Darfur and performed cataract operations. It is impossible to describe my feelings. I've witnessed the sincere thanks of patients." stated Ferruh Bircan, one of the doctors.

From November 20th, 2008 to January 2012, 17 health officers took charge in our clinic at Darfur by turns. 48 eye doctors examined  50.450 people; 9.141 people’s eyes were opened by surgery.

Giving their eyesight back is only $100...
